You walk into a pawnshop, Trying to act like you've never seen a sunset. You casually glance at the walls Carved from the bone marrow Of someone else's failed dreams - It seems, they don't have what you're looking for, You question why you ever came. As a lump of bile rises in your soft mind You think of fresh cut grass. You think of pencil shavings, The smell of your pre-school paper machier mask... ...And you think to ask. As if peering into your soul With a microscopic lens The clerk bends, procures a key. You're escorted down a long, dark esophagus With a light at the end - You're spat out. To a circular room with glass cases lining all around, Everything organized, everything clean. Then you stare as the man's bony hand expands, You catch your eye on a very sharp hook, look! There in a six by four, rectangular prism painted yellow Is the answer to life, the universe, And what you plan to do on Saturdays... ...woo hoo! ...woo hoo ooh! You reach into your wallet, find yourself caught in, A post apocalyptic reality sandwich, Missing the lettuce. You place it on reserve, Go home to conspire. Conscience walking on a tight-wire Between two forty story buildings, With people inside. You plaster your lips firmly on the rear Of the old leather-worn, world-weary worlds-man, Who spawned you, extract two twenty dollar bills, And then go right back... Go right ba-ack... Flashing your cash before the eyes Of a barely-walking zombie loser who's dead inside. Feeling so good you could cry, Thirty minutes go by, You haven't learned to fly until you're sucked in, Through your head into a digital world Where cross-bred mutated animals fight to the death. And you can leave any time... ...But now you're caught up in the lifestyle. Woo hoo! Woo hoo ooh! Woo hoo! Woo hoo ooh! And it feels, And it feels, And it feels like slipping on ice x lots.
